Drywall is a forgiving material when it's repaired by someone who knows the basics: cut clean edges, fasten properly, mud thin and wide, sand between coats. Done that way, the patch disappears against the wall under any lighting. Done quickly, the patch shows up as a slightly different sheen under raking light and the homeowner notices it every morning.
We don't rush patches. Three coats of mud, sanded between, primed, paint-matched. That's the difference between a fix that holds for years and one that telegraphs through the paint inside a season.
Common questions
Can you finish in one visit?+
For patches under 18 inches, almost always - we use quick-set drywall compound that allows three coats in 90 minutes with sanding between. Larger patches or anything overhead may need a second visit so the final coat cures properly before paint.
Do you bring paint or do I need to provide it?+
Bring a small sample if you have one (a chip from a paint store, or a small jar from your last touch-up). We carry common Kelowna-builder neutrals (BEHR Swiss Coffee, Cloverdale Polar White, Dulux Antique White) and can match most close-enough on the spot. If your wall is a custom colour and you have no sample, we'll mud and prime the patch and leave the final paint to you.
What about water damage?+
We open up the affected area first to confirm whether the source of water is fixed (you fixed it, or it's an old leak that's dry). If the moisture source is still active, we'll quote the fix as a separate booking - patching wet drywall just hides the problem. Once it's dry, we re-board, mud, sand, prime, paint. Bigger water jobs usually run $249-$450 depending on size and ceiling involvement.
Can you match my textured ceiling?+
Knockdown and orange-peel textures we match on the spot using a hopper gun or sponge. Stipple, swirl, or stomp textures from older Kelowna homes are harder - we'll get close but you may see a slight transition under raking light. We'll show you a test patch before committing if you're uncertain.
What about cracks in the corner where the wall meets the ceiling?+
Hairline cracks are usually seasonal expansion and don't need full repair - flexible caulk + paint hides them through the year. Wider cracks (1/8" or more) mean drywall paper has torn at the corner bead; that gets re-taped, mudded, sanded, repainted. We assess on arrival.
